On-line viewing of generated 3D models

    Hi,

I have been using sketchfab for sharing and viewing my3D models. I do like the user interaction available for model and light adjustments but the 50Mb object limit in the free version is killing me.

I haven't photographed and generated enough 3D material to warrant purchasing a monthly subscription to Sketchfab and was wondering if there are alternatives out there that are just as good but with a larger model size limit?? e.g. my latest model is just shy of 200Mb for the .obj file and textures

    best regards
    Kev

    Hi Photosbykev,

I suggest you decimate your model and use fewer textures. You can do this directly during the texture generation wizard, by lowering the parameters:
Max. Number of vertices (set it to 500000)
Max. Number of textures (set it to 2)

Additionally, if you use the integrated sketchfab uploader (on export textured mesh), there is a checkbox to help fit the filesize limit of Sketchfab. Select 50 Mb as target filesize. It's always better to decimate the model anyway (for example 1M / 500000 vertices), before using the filesize limiting tool.
