    export image of current selection

    newbie : I want to export an image file using the current selected area of the model (selection>rectangle)..

    is this possible?

    Hi Roger! You can take screenshots of the viewport under: Export -> Take Screenshot
    - This is a simple tool through which you can set the resolution and choose between having transparency or not.

    If there is a particular part of the model you which to capture and not the rest, a workaround is duplicating your model, selecting the part you want to capture, invert the selection, delete the unwanted surface geometry then take a screenshot of the remaining geometry.

        ...but as far as I see then you are still left with an image which subsequently has to be cropped again..

        to get rid of the background workspace transparent or not?

          You can position the viewport camera using your mouse so as to frame the subject. You can also turn off the gridlines and camera position visibilities through Tools>Options>Rendering.
