    About the Surveying Technique

Hello, I have a Matrice 350 RTK. Some of my colleagues claim that we can obtain elevation data directly by connecting to the CORS server without setting any Ground Control Points (GCPs). However, we argue that this would result in a high margin of error and that elevation differences of at least 15–20 cm would occur. In your opinion, how much error should we expect in elevation measurements without using GCPs, given a flight altitude of 150 meters and a speed of 15 km/h?

    Hi,

It is absolutely good practice to have GCPs and I personally always advocate for their use, not just as a constraint, but for check as well.

Relying solely on RTK without GCPs can introduce errors, depending on a variety of factors including signal quality, terrain, flight conditions. Even with good RTK and stable CORS correction, errors in elevation are not uncommon, and I assume this can't be controlled/prevented until you do a flight in a particular area to assess its quality.

This is more of a DJI question rather than a 3Dflow question I'm afraid. We're hardware agnostic and this tends to be more of a "day-to-day" problem for UAV professionals so I would probably consult with experienced users with that specific drone to benchmark its performances. Sorry!

Yes, it's not directly related to your software, but I wanted to benefit from your experience because I know how knowledgeable you are thanks to your software. This is actually a sign of the trust I have in you. Thank you so much, this reply alone is more than enough for me.
