Custom match points

Good evening,
I am trying to reconstruct old objects from which only remains pretty old photos incompatible of the software automatic feature detection.
I have no other options than identify features myself in the images and inject their points image coordinates into some tool. During my journey to a possible solution, I read that it might be possible to bypass zephyr feature recognition and give it a list of matching points between various images.
I looked at my version of zephyr (free) but did not find the relevant menu.
Do you confirm it is possible ?

Hello,

it is possible to manually add keypoints in the full version, although it should be used sparingly, e.g. to add a photo that is crucial for texturing, helping merge two clusters, etc. If the SfM algorithm fails, it's unlikely you'll be able to get results if all your photos are added manually.

Yes, this is possible in Zephyr, but not in the Free version. The workflow you’re referring to is the use of control/tie points or imported matches to help the alignment when automatic feature extraction fails or is unreliable.

In the Free edition several advanced tools are missing, so you won’t see the relevant menu there. You would need one of the paid editions to manually define points across images and use them in the reconstruction pipeline. For very old photos, though, results can still be tricky: differences in focal length, scanning/cropping, lack of overlap, and image degradation can all make reconstruction difficult even with manual points.
