    3d model of shiny object

    Dear Friends,
I wish to make 3d model of statue, the problem is surface of statue is shiny, the statue is highly valuable so we can not use any type of coating on statue. And I wish to make 3d model only from photogrammetry by using 24mp DSLR.
Please guide in details as early as possible.

    Hi Yogesh,

since you can not touch the subject, i think you have two ways you can approach the problem:

    - if you can use a projector, you can project a pattern on it and take two images, one with the projector on and one with the projector off. Use the projector-on images for everything except the texture, then use the projector-off images for the texturing phase. If possible, also consider using a polarized filter on the camera to minimize reflections. You can find an example here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E06kgYBftak

    - if the above method is not viable (for example a transparent surface, such as a crystal or glass statue) your best bet is to place something under the subject (e.g. a newspaper) for the SfM phase. Then, mask all the images and use the Shape from Silhouette option (available in 3DF Zephyr Pro and Aerial) https://www.3dflow.net/tutorial-shape-silhouette/ - please note that for this to work, you must have all the photos that see the full body of the object.
