1. it depends on the hole and slicer software you use, but generally speaking you want to close all holes.
2. scaling should be done with control points for better accuracy (Pro/Aerial). However you can also roughly scale the object with Free and Lite: https://www.3dscanninghacks.com/wiki..._Free_And_Lite

From scanning to 3D printing - two questions
1. When I do the scanning, I get the top surface of the object with a big hole in the bottom and possibly with another hole in the top. Hence what I get is a shell of the object. Can I send this directly to 3D printing without filling the holes? Will they be able to fill holes and give me back a solid object?
2. How do I scale the stl file so that it is close to the real size? How do I do the scaling?
